Mechanical vibration of non-reciprocating machines – Measurements on rotating shafts and evaluation criteria – Part 3 Coupled Industrial Machines
Provides guidance on application of evaluation criteria for shaft vibration under normal working conditions, measured at, or near to the bearings of coupled industrial machines. Guidlines given are in terms of both steady running vibration and magnitude changes which can happen in these steady values. Numerical values covered are not intended to serve as the only basis for evaluating vibration as generally, a machines’ vibratory condition is assessed taking into account both shaft vibration and connected structural vibration. Applicable to coupled industrial machines having fluid-film bearings and maximum rated speeds in the 1000 r/min to 30000 r/min range, not restricted by power and size, consisting of steam turbines, turbo pumps, compressors, fans and generators and where relevant, electric drives and gears..
